The SOR4D Research Conference 2026 brings together the research and development community to advance transdisciplinary research for global development.

Organised by the SOR4D programme (a joint initiative of the SNSF and SDC), the conference provides a platform to exchange results, discuss approaches, and foster new collaborations.
Under the overarching theme “Advancing Transdisciplinary Research for Global Development: Crisis, Collaboration, and Change”, the conference explores how research can respond to current global challenges and contribute to sustainable and scalable solutions.
The programme features a rich mix of formats across 20 thematic sessions, including 9 paper sessions with around 45 research presentations, 6 roundtables, and 5 interactive workshops, complemented by keynote speeches, plenary discussions, and dedicated networking opportunities.
Sessions address topics such as knowledge co-production, transformative research, and pathways to scaling solutions in diverse contexts. By combining presentations with interactive formats, the conference fosters exchange between academia, policy, and practice, encouraging mutual learning and new partnerships.
Networking opportunities include informal exchanges, coffee breaks, and a reception, as well as a joint reflection wall as an interactive exchange platform and an exhibition showcasing the use of PhotoVoice as a research method.
